WaT is a duo consisting of Eiji Wentz (left) and Teppei Koike (right). This is their first major label single (after releasing an Indies single in 2004) and it was released on November 2, 2005. The single reached #2 on the Oricon Weekly Charts and sold 285,246 copies.

I was really skeptical about this single but I was pleasantly surprised with the title track, Boku no Kimochi. The chorus is obviously the best part of this song because it combines both of Wentz and Teppei’s voices and they harmonize very well together. The BGM is a mix of piano, percussion, strings, and acoustic guitar. It took me a couple of listens before I started to really like the song and it quickly grew on me.

The B-side, Ano Hi, is pretty good too but I still like the title track more. The harmonica at the beginning is kind of annoying and that’s the only complaint I have. This song is also more slow paced with calmer vocals from Wentz and Teppei.

Overall Rating

4½ stars
