2. Driving today
3. Rolling star ~YUI Acoustic Version~
4. CHE.R.RY ~Instrumental~

This is YUI’s 9th single and it was released on March 7, 2007. The single reached #2 on the Oricon Weekly Charts and sold 168,638 copies.

CHE.R.RY starts off a little shaky because of YUI’s low pitched vocals during the verses but it quickly becomes an extremely charming song when the chorus arrives. I love the chorus because it is very catchy and the upbeat mix of acoustics and strings is wonderful. Compared to her previous singles, this song has more of a pop, cutesy feel to it.

I thought the B-side, Driving today, was okay. The song is kind of boring but it has progressive riffs and strong percussion. I miss those really upbeat YUI B-sides and these recent ones have just been so uninteresing to me.

The next track is the YUI Acoustic Version of Rolling star. As I said before, I didn’t like this song because I thought YUI was trying too hard to sound more ‘punkish’ and ‘aggressive’. This is version is a step up, but only a minor one. The acoustics are VERY nice but overall, I’m still not very fond of this song in general. It just rubs me the wrong way for some reason.

Overall Rating

3½ stars
