This is the brilliant green’s 16th single and it was released on December 12, 2007. The single reached #21 on the Oricon Weekly Charts and sold 5,804 copies.

the brilliant green has hit the bullseye with Enemy, a medium tempo “winter” themed track. Thanks to a dark, grungy, and melancholy sound, the song is certainly a major step up from their comeback single Stand by me. The music has a strong sense of character and expression as well. The chorus just grabbed me with its opening line The enemy lives inside myself, yeah I know and I loved the soothing, yet forceful vocals of lead singer Tomoko Kawase.

The B-side is an acoustic version of angel song -Eve no Kane-, the band’s 11th single released back in 2000. Like most acoustic versions, everything is toned down and the chorus does not feature a vocal track. Kawase’s vocals seemed to get drowned out by the furious guitars in the original so it was very nice to hear the song performed with a clear voice.

Overall Rating

4 stars
