The cover of the limited edition (K version)

Aitai Kara (会いたいから) is K’s 12th single and it was released on June 16, 2010. The single reached #33 on the Oricon Weekly Charts and sold 3,013 copies. The title track was used as the theme song for the movie Shun Matataki.

He’s looking good as usual. ;D

All I can say is FINALLY! It’s been over a year since the last single. Anyway, I think Aitai Kara is a wonderful song that I instantly liked on the first listen. A mellow pop ballad, the song is a little typical coming from K but it’s still very good. The strings and piano arrangement flows beautifully and his vocals are perfect. I also think the chorus is really catchy, especially the 2nd half that’s after the donna toki mo line.

The single includes alternative versions of the main track, the first being a piano instrumental and then a live version. The piano instrumental is great but the live version has some shaky parts. Even though his vocals came off as strained sometimes, I thought he gave a good performance.

Pros: Aitai Kara is excellent. It now ranks as one of my favorite A-sides from him.
Cons: No B-sides?! That’s not really a bad thing though.

BASICALLY…if anyone call pull off melancholy and bittersweet, it’s K. =D

Overall Rating

4½ stars

  1. Yay! K release at last!
I have to agree that it’s pretty typical of K, but I guess being predictable isn’t always a bad thing… this is his “signature sound” This is the K sound I fell in love with, so I’m pretty happy with this single :) although nothing tops Only Human.

  2. It’s amazing your blog. It’s a bit difficult to find information about K. I am glad to find people who like songs K.
I like [Dear] the last single before moving to military service. Sorry for my poor English xDDD thanks for the info^^
